Homemade Supreme Pizza Recipe
Want to stick to a basic pie? Under control. Throw together this homemade supreme pizza and you’ll be sure to please the whole crew!
Ingredients
Pizza Crust
- 1 ¼ c. warm water
- 2 tsp. instant yeast
- 2 tsp. granulated sugar
- ½ tsp. salt
- 2 tbsp. olive oil
- 3-3 ½ c. all-purpose flour or bread flour
Pizza Toppings
- 1 c. pizza sauce of your choice (or go wild and make some homemade sauce!)
- 2 c. shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ c. chopped sweet bell peppers
- ⅓ c. thinly sliced red onion
- 1 c. sliced mushrooms
- 1 c. crumbled Uncle Charley’s Hot Italian Sausage
- 10-15 slices pepperoni
- Fresh basil
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine water, yeast, sugar, salt, and olive oil. Allow mixture to stand for 5 minutes.
- Add one cup of flour, and mix to combine. Mix by hand for 1-2 minutes. The dough should be about the same consistency as cake batter.
- Add another cup of flour and mix until well combined. Add flour in small increments until it is difficult to mix by hand.
- Sprinkle some flour on your table and turn the dough onto the table. Knead the dough by hand until it is smooth and elastic, adding flour as needed to prevent it from sticking to your hands. This should take 6-10 minutes of kneading. You can also do this part in a stand mixer if you have one available.
- Place the dough back in the bowl, cover it with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 15-30 minutes. You can leave it for longer if you are making the dough further in advance of dinner.
- When you are ready to make the pizza, preheat the oven to 500 degrees. If you are using a baking stone, put it in the oven to preheat for 30 minutes. If you are using a metal baking sheet, preheat for 10 minutes.
- When the oven is hot, turn the dough over onto a piece of parchment paper. Using a rolling pin, roll the dough into a 12-14 inch circle. The dough should be about ½ an inch thick.
- Top with pizza sauce and shredded mozzarella, then the other toppings. Add some extra cheese to top it off.
- Once assembled, slide the pizza (with parchment paper) onto the oven stone or baking sheet. Be careful! Remember how hot your oven is.
- Bake the pizza for 10-15 minutes, until the cheese bubbles and the edges are beginning to brown. Remove the stone or sheet using oven mitts and let rest for 5 minutes before cutting.
Supreme Pizza Garbage Bread
If you’re trying to switch things up to try a different style of pizza, try this Supreme Pizza Garbage Bread! It’s easy finger food for the whole gang, perfect for movie night or watching some hockey.
Ingredients
- 1 package of Uncle Charley’s Spicy Italian Sausage, crumbled
- ¼ c. olive oil
- 1 8-oz. container of button mushrooms, thinly sliced
- Salt and pepper
- 1 medium bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 medium red onion, thinly sliced
- ¼ c. black olives, quartered
- All-purpose flour (for dusting)
- 1 ½ lbs. store-bought pizza dough
- 6 oz. package pepperoni
- 4 slices deli ham, each cut into 8 strips
- 1 c. store-bought marinara sauce
- 3 c. grated mozzarella
- 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees, lining a baking pan with parchment paper.
- Heat the sausage in a large non-stick pan over medium heat. Cook until in small crumbles and fully browned. Transfer to paper towels to drain.
- Turn burner to medium heat and add mushrooms. Sprinkle salt and pepper, cooking until golden, then add the bell pepper and onions. Once caramelized, transfer the vegetables to a bowl and stir in the olives.
- Roll the dough into a 20×14 inch rectangle on a lightly floured surface. Starting on the shorter end of the dough, arrange the pepperoni slices, ham strips, and cooked sausage evenly over half the dough, leaving a 1-inch border on the sides, then spoon the marinara sauce evenly over the meat. Sprinkle the mozzarella over the sauce, then scatter the cooked vegetables evenly over the cheese. Working from the short side, tightly roll the dough up, jelly roll-style, into a log. Pinch the open seams together to seal, then tuck them underneath the log.
- Transfer your log to the baking sheet with parchment paper, brush with egg wash and sprinkling with garlic powder.
- Bake for about 40 minutes, until the log is golden brown.
- Let the bread cool for about 10 minutes, then cut lengthwise. Slice into 8 pieces.
- Serve warm with extra marinara sauce on the side.
