‘SRIRACHA’ WAITIN’ FOR? SPICE UP YOUR SUMMER!

Posted on 03/06/2016 08:00 NEWS

You’ve drizzled the addictively tingly sauce over your scrambled eggs in the morning. You’ve drenched sub-par pho with the smoky, tangy, and sweet flavor you crave. But it’s not just you. There are entire cookbooks dedicated to celebrating Sriracha’s versatility. And we can’t forget the sweet swag, like iPhone cases and hoodies, many millennials are touting. Let’s face it — America is hooked on spice.

Since 2012, hot sauce has been one of the fastest growing industries in the United States. Many analysts point to changing demographics as the reason behind this piquant passion. But no matter the cause of the recent obsession with spicier ethnic food, the industry has grown at a steady rate of 9.3 percent over the past decade.

And which hot sauce reigns supreme? You guessed it — Sriracha.

The current Huy Fong facility produces 3,000 bottles every hour, 24 hours a day, six days a week. To put those numbers in perspective, that’s 20 million bottles per year. It’s a good thing, too. The iconic rooster emblazoned, green-capped bottles are flying off shelves.

If you can’t get enough Sriracha in your daily diet, we’ve got the answer for you. Here are our favorite ways to put a little more zing in Summer cuisine.

Grilled Cheese With Avocado And Sriracha
This isn’t the grilled cheese your mom made. If the usual, melty snack isn’t enough to hit the spot, try layering your favorite cheese with half an avocado, a crumbled hard boiled egg, and a drizzle of Sriracha before you melt it all together. The rich, savory flavor of this creation will be sure to cement it as a staple in your recipe box.

Spicy Sriracha Popcorn
Not every movie is action-packed enough to hold your attention. But, just because the film is a bust doesn’t mean the whole experience is wasted! Buttery and firey, this quick and simple recipe only requires a little patience while you wait for the kernels to pop. Then simply mix up some butter laced with Sriracha and drizzle over the popcorn.

Strawberry Sriracha Margarita
Whether you’re celebrating happy hour at home, or entertaining a few guests for a backyard barbecue, you can add a little spice to your traditional cocktail. Simply blend up your favorite strawberry margarita and add in one-half tablespoon Sriracha for an added kick. Just as a quick reminder, alcohol intensifies heat, so be sure take it slow the first time you try this recipe. Bottoms up!

Sriracha Pineapple Sausage Grillers
This Summer, we’ve added a heated new twist to our line-up of grillers. If you’re looking to branch out from the traditional spicy Uncle Charley’s flavors, the bold new taste of Sriracha Pineapple will be sure to be just the kick your weeknight dinners need. Simply throw some on the grill, or add them to your favorite recipe for a flavorful meal.

Sriracha doesn’t need to take a backseat to the other flavors on your plate. Bring the spice to center stage this Summer!
