OKTOBERFEST 2019 PARTY IDEAS

Guten tag! Oktoberfest is just around the corner and we don’t know about you, but we are READY 🎉🍻

Oktoberfest Party Ideas to Stand Out This Year

Oktoberfest is a German holiday that is now celebrated internationally to spotlight Bavarian culture in the best way possible: with flowing pints of beer and classic German and Bavarian cuisine. The largest is held annually in Munich, but if booking a plane ticket is too much of a commitment, we have some ideas for your own party at home.

It doesn’t take too much to get an Oktoberfest party together. With the right food, decorations, and music, it will feel like you’re right in the heart of it all, even if you’re actually just hanging out in your kitchen with friends and family!

Oktoberfest Recipes and Party Food

When it comes down to it, the main culinary staples of Oktoberfest are sausages, pretzels, and of course ice cold brews!

Wondering what some good sausages to feature on the menu would be? We suggest our Bratwursts and Kolbassi! If you want to feature some sauerkraut on the menu, you can even take advantage of our Uncured Cooked Bratwurst with Sauerkraut or Uncured Smoked Kielbasa with Sauerkraut. You can cook them in the oven, on the grill, or in your crockpot – no matter what you choose, you’ll be creating a dish that is classic to the season and will have everyone’s mouths watering!

When it comes to the pretzels, you can go the frozen pretzel route or go wild and make your own. We suggest this recipe if you decide to do that!

As for beer, pretty much every brewery, big or small, has an Oktoberfest brew out this time of year! A few of our favorites are from Great Lakes Brewing Company, Samuel Adams, and Sierra Nevada Brewing Company. But really, you can’t go wrong!

Oktoberfest Crafts and Decorations

Driving home an authentic feel for your Oktoberfest party is important! A great way to do this is by decorating your home with traditional Bavarian wares – or your own crafted renditions of them. 🎨

Some easy ways to decorate would be with the classic blue and white pattern of Oktoberfest on pendants around your house and an Oktoberfest sign to hang over the door. You could even create a Biergarten sign to go over the area where you’ll be storing your beer.
Another fun way to get in the spirit would be to invest in some inexpensive beer steins. These would provide a genuine feel of being at Oktoberfest, given that this is how beer is consumed at any large Oktoberfest gathering around the world! These also would make great party favors for your guests – as a craft, you could have a decorating station so that everyone can distinguish their stein from another.

Oktoberfest Music

Now, for the final touch: music! Traditionally, Oompah music is played at Oktoberfest celebrations. It has a brass-influenced feel, but you’ll find that at a celebration you will hear songs that you recognize, just being played in a slightly different style!

Some popular tunes can be found here. You can also find some great songs on this Spotify playlist or on this Pandora station.

And with that – you are READY for your party! Take pictures, clink glasses, and enjoy your sausage and pretzels. After all, you only get to do this once a year!
